TCL (Training Christian Living) is more than a leadership program - it’s a chance to grow in faith, character, and Christ-like service. Through hands-on training, intentional discipleship, and real camp ministry experience, TCLers are equipped to lead with humility & integrity.

How it Works
Jesus’ call to love God and others is the ultimate example of what Christian living is all about! During TCL programs you will serve God and others, all while being invested in and built up as you are encouraged in a loving Christian community.
Depending on your grade, you may apply for a one-week (Jr. TCL) or three-week (TCL) program that will be life-changing! You will engage in intensive service at camp, while being immersed in God’s Word, and surrounded by a supportive Christian community. Each program is led by experienced youth leaders who help each participant learn what Christian living is all about.

We’re the Meyer Family! We (Aaron and Alora) grew up at Lakeside and have always held a special place in our hearts for TCL. We both work in education and are thankful for summers off to serve. We’re excited for another summer directing TCL! We have two boys- Leo (5) and Arlo (3)- and love spending time as a family playing games, reading, and going outside.

Josh & Christine Doty
Josh is the pastor of youth & families at Des Moines Gospel Chapel. He is a native of Massachusetts & moved to Seattle in 2007. He came to know Jesus in 2010, and has been serving kids, families, and youth in some capacity since 2011. For nearly a decade, he has been on staff at a Mountlake Terrace church. He's passionate about seeing kids and youth come to know Jesus, finding their specific role within the kingdom of God, and equipping parents to not only raise up the next generation of the church but also to grow deeper in their own walk with God as they navigate life and faith as a family.
He and his wife, Christine, have been married since 2017 and have been serving together, in various capacities, since 2013. They enjoy hosting gatherings and barbecues at their home and giving kids ample opportunities to chase the dog and cat around the house.

Grace and Colin Jones grew up attending Lakeside Bible Camp and met each other while on staff. They've had the privilege of directing Jr TCL the past couple of years and look forward to directing again this summer. We are the Simmons family: Ben and Anne, with children Katherine (14) and Ava Grace (8). We are excited for the opportunity to return to directing TCL 2 for this upcoming summer! Our family has deep roots with LBC, with many years as campers, cabin leaders, TCLers, staff members, and directors. Ben and Anne met each other at LBC in the summer of 2005, and have been married since the summer of 2006. Ben grew up on Whidbey Island and attended LBC as a camper every summer from 3rd grade through high school, as well as cabin leading after high school. Anne started attending LBC at the invitation of a close friend and has been a camper, TCLer, and staff member. Ben and Anne returned to LBC as TCL 2 directors in the summers of 2011 and 2012. Our oldest daughter, Katherine, has attended LBC every summer since she was in 3rd grade. She has been a camper, as well as TCLer for junior TCL the past 2 summers! Our youngest daughter, Ava Grace, is looking forward to her first experience as a camper this upcoming summer! Our family attends New Life Church in Renton, Washington. Ben and Anne are both teachers who enjoy the summers together as a family.

Jesse joined the Pastoral Team at Des Moines Gospel Chapel in January 2022. He has been in pastoral ministry since he was twenty-one years old, serving at two different churches in multiple capacities. In addition, he was the acting director of a Bible College. He has a Master of Applied Biblical Leadership degree from Western Theological Seminary.
Jesse loves helping people follow Jesus, whether it’s the first step, next step, or last step. He believes this happens through people being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing what Jesus does.
He and Jordan have been married since 2012 and have four amazing kids. His hobbies include reading/learning, playing guitar, and playing sports.

Being a cabin leader for the TCL program is about more than supervising - it’s about discipling. TCL students (grades 8–10 and college-age) are stepping into leadership and asking big questions about faith, purpose, and identity. As a cabin leader, you get to walk alongside them, offering wisdom, encouragement, and biblical truth as they grow in their relationship with Christ.
We’re looking for mature believers who love mentoring and investing in the next generation. If you're someone who listens well, leads with humility, and is willing to have meaningful conversations about life and faith, TCL is a powerful place to serve. Your presence can help shape young leaders who will carry the gospel with courage and conviction.
