ANNOUNCEMENT: Incoming Executive Director
Dear Friends of Lakeside Bible Camp,
The Lakeside Bible Camp Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Bryon Mengle as the new Executive Director of Lakeside Bible Camp. Bryon will succeed Ed Kelley, who will retire in October after many years of faithful leadership and service to the ministry of LBC.
Bryon brings extensive experience in church, parachurch, and youth ministry, along with a strong background in team leadership, organizational management, fundraising, and donor relations. His passion for camp ministry is rooted in a deep desire to ensure that Lakeside Bible Camp remains a place where children, teens, and families can encounter Jesus Christ in the beauty of God’s creation.
Bryon will begin on staff in mid-June, initially serving as Summer Staff Director, and will formally transition into the Executive Director role following the camp season. This transition period will provide valuable opportunity for Bryon and Ed to work closely together as leadership responsibilities are passed on.
The Board unanimously believes Bryon is uniquely gifted for this role and for the future of Lakeside Bible Camp. He is a gifted leader and communicator who establishes relationships easily, builds trust quickly, and naturally motivates, energizes and encourages those around him. We believe he will serve as an outstanding ambassador for LBC and provide the vision and leadership needed to guide the ministry into the next 65 years.
The Board is also excited about Bryon’s enthusiasm for helping cast vision for the future of LBC. While he desires to honor the strong foundation and legacy already in place, he also has a passion for pursuing excellence in every aspect of the ministry and helping LBC continue to grow and thrive.
Bryon and Ed share a long history together. Bryon first met Ed while attending Christ’s Church in Federal Way, and years later Ed officiated Bryon and Shawna’s wedding. Now, three decades later, Bryon considers it a tremendous honor to follow Ed as Executive Director of Lakeside Bible Camp.
Bryon lives in Mount Vernon with his wife, Shawna, and their son, Dylan. Their daughter, Alyssa, is completing her final year at Grand Canyon University. Please join us in praying for Bryon and his family as they begin this exciting new chapter of ministry at Lakeside Bible Camp. We are deeply grateful for Ed Kelley’s faithful leadership and look forward with anticipation to all God has in store for the future of LBC.
